Who we are:
CALI (Care and Learn Ireland) is an exciting new initiative launching in early 2024 which combines both a Day Service and formal Learning for young adults with severe to profound intellectual disability. Till now this cohort of school leavers transitioned to a traditional Day Service model with no continuing/ further education learning pathway.
This new style of ‘Care and Learn’ initiative is being run with support from the Kildare & Wicklow Education and Training Board. It will create a unique environment designed to help these school leavers continue their learning and reach their full potential. The programme will include the support of a full multidisciplinary therapy (MDT) team.
The aim is to develop a new model of Care and Learning for severe to profound young adults that will become a template for national roll out.

The Job:
● To facilitate opportunities for young adults to develop and grow through their participation in the CALI Centre programmes.
● Collaborate in the development of Individual Personal Plans to ensure the delivery of effective, high-quality services and in line with New Directions.
● Assist with all personal care needs and any other individual needs that may arise, including the administration of medication while working in accordance with CALI Centres’ policies and procedures.
● Supporting the students in taking part in the CALI Centres’ Curriculum including QQI level 1 modules, life skills, cooking, budgeting, etc.
● Facilitate enjoyable activities to foster independence, confidence and encourage creativity and learning.
● Actively seek new interests and opportunities for our young adults to experience meaningful participation and roles in their community.
● Ensure, promote, and always safeguard the wellbeing and interests of the young adults and to adhere to CALI Centres’ policies and procedures around same.
● Work as an integral part of the CALI Centres’ team actively participating in team meetings, service planning and reviews.
● Facilitate integration and implementation of MDT recommendations/plans into service delivery, while also supporting the young adults to follow the same.
● Maintain all records and individual plans as per CALI Centres’ policies.
● Escort the young adults on CALI/ Public transport (as required).
Qualifications & Experience:
● Minimum of QQI level 5 in healthcare, social care, special needs assistant, care support, social studies, disability or equivalent.
● Experience in working with individuals who have severe to profound disabilities and those with Autism is an advantage.
● Person-centred, young person first approach.
● Excellent communication, IT, report writing and planning skills.
● Flexibility and reliability.
● Knowledge of New Directions Regulations and National Standards for persons with disabilities is an advantage.
● Experience providing personal care.
● Experience in the administration of medications an advantage
● Knowledge of Safeguarding and your role and responsibilities regarding same.
● Due to the nature of the role all applicants must be eligible to currently work in the Republic of Ireland and successfully complete the Garda Vetting Process.
Desirable:
● QQI level 7 qualification or higher in Social Care, Social Studies, Education, Disability or equivalent.
● Experience of working in a day services/ special school environment.
● Experience in supporting individuals who communicate differently.
● Experience supporting individuals with behaviours that may challenge and experience in the use of positive behaviour support strategies.
● Proficiency/Experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), e.g., Lámh, PECS, Communication devices, GRID etc.
Contract:
Fixed Term Contracts (3 years)

● Salary – Equivalent to HSE Consolidated Pay Scale – Salary will reflect experience and qualifications. Guide: €30,000 - €50,000
