An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Abacas Special School is a school for pupils aged 4-18 years of age with a diagnosis of autism and complex needs. Pupils are grouped in classrooms of 6 and have access to 3-4 SNAs per class. Abacas is evidence-based and implements individualised educational and behavioural programmes for all pupils. Abacas follows the primary school curriculum and has also adopted the L1LP and L2LP Junior Cycle curricula for pupils of secondary school age.
The successful applicant will work closely alongside a team of highly experienced SNAs, an onsite behaviour analyst as well as external visiting professionals, to deliver an individualised evidence-based educational programme.
The successful applicant will have significant experience teaching in a similar setting. Excellent interpersonal, communication and team skills are essential. Experience with implementing positive behaviour management and knowledge of PECS, Lámh, assistive communication technologies, TEACCH and the L1LP and L2LP Junior Cycle curricula would be a distinct advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to attend Croke park hours commencing 25th Aug 2023.
