Where appropriate an internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up from which future vacancies (including cove SNA vacancies) may be filled (valid for the duration of the school year).
Sligo School Project is a Multi-Denominational Deis Band 1 school under the patronage of Sligo School Project CLG. Experience of working in a Deis Band 1 school environment is preferable. It is preferable that candidates have experience in working with children with behavioural, physical, health care needs, and in following a long term strategy in dealing with violent outbursts. Duties include assisting with eating and intimate care, assisting in the swimming pool and other educational outings. Candidates must be able to work well within a team in a democratic setting. Candidates must be able to work on his/her own initiative, display a strong work ethic, respect the ethos of the school and be flexible and demonstrate a willingness to avail of further training. Successful candidates will be expected to respect confidentiality at all times. Candidates must have a profound understanding of conflict resolution in a democratic environment. It is essential that candidates are able to apply manual handling and fostering of positive behaviour patterns based on strategies which are suitable in Sligo School Project. Practical experience with the management of challenging behaviour is an advantage. This is a full time post. Compliance with relevant Garda Vetting Requirements is essential. Medical fitness of the successful applicant must be confirmed before taking up the post. Applicants should have qualifications as per Department of Education and Skills Circular 0051/2019. Applicants who are deemed to be members of the supplementary panel must furnish a certified copy of completed Panel Form 1 (PF1) with their application.
