St. John's Special School invites applications for a permanent SNA post starting Monday February 3rd 2020. St. John's is a school for pupils with special educational needs aged 4 to 18 years. Pupils present with an intellectual disability ranging from Mild, Moderate, Severe/Profound, many pupils have additional complex needs of a physical, sensory or behavioural nature. Applications should have the minimum qualifications as per DES Circular 0042/2017. Experience of working with pupils across a broad range of disabilities is highly desirable.
Desirable Competencies:
CPD in Manual Handling
Experience in Communication Systems, e.g PECS/Lámh
Experience in assisting with positioning pupils, e.g using hoists
Experience in assisting pupils during swimming lessons
Experience in assisting pupils with Intimate Care, adhering to all Child Protection Guidelines
Willingness to work as part of a team and participate in school activities, and willingness to avail of further training
Successful candidate will be expected to respect the confidentiality of pupils at all times
