JOB DESCRIPTION:

The CIS Abroad Ireland Site Director (SD) is a part-time, contracted position (roughly 10 - 15 flexible and varying hours per week) responsible for the quality and success of the CIS Abroad programs offered in Ireland, listed below. The SD is responsible for overseeing all participants, and assisting with the coordination of all aspects of in-country program operations, including onsite activities. Among the primary responsibilities of the SD are to ensure high levels of program quality, act promptly in emergency and crisis situations, and work effectively with students before and throughout their study abroad experience. This individual has a flexible schedule, and must live within easy access of the programs in Limerick and Dublin. This position works very closely with the Enrollment Coordinator, the International Operations Management Team, and the Custom Programs team (as needed), and reports to the CIS Abroad International Operations Manager located in London, England.

CIS Abroad currently offers the following programs in Ireland:

Study Abroad Programs and Internships: spring, summer, and fall

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
--CIS Abroad On-site Branding
o Remain a visible CIS Abroad presence
o Ensure that students connect their ‘Site Director’ to CIS Abroad and that the association is favorable
o Promote the CIS Abroad brand in all program operations (i.e. participant orientations, excursions, correspondence with students, etc.)

--Student Support
o Hold regular “office hours”, and connect frequently with students via e-mail and/or social media
o Arrange an airport pick-up and greet students at the airport, if not arranged by the university
o Coordinate and deliver the CIS Abroad Orientation for all incoming students and interns
o Meet with students individually for periodic check-ins
o Help coordinate and deliver the CIS Abroad La Vida Local™ series, which is the cultural enrichment program that includes excursions, and other educational activities
o Collaborate with CIS Abroad and the host university staff to plan participant services:
>Housing
>Social Activities
>Counseling
>Medical and Psychological Issues
>Legal Matters
>Conflict Transformation
>Policy Enforcement
o Communicate current and reliable information concerning health and safety to students/CIS Abroad staff:
>Risks in the Local Environment
>Safety and Emergency Campus Protocol
>Excursion Risks and Dangers
o Be available as a 24 hour emergency contact when students are onsite
o Communicate with incoming students:
>Welcome accepted students and establish one’s self as a point of contact
>Answer student’s questions in a timely manner
>Maintain a virtual presence on CIS Abroad social networking sites
>Keep a digital archive of photos and blogs updated on social networking / web sites
>Prepare students for their study abroad experience by managing expectations

--Coordination of Programs
o Collaborate with the Ireland International Program Manager to manage onsite program components in accordance with CIS Abroad policies and contracts
o Assist in the creation of program budgets, and program calendars
o Manage program finances
o Communicate frequently with the CIS Abroad International Operations Management Team about any issues onsite
o Coordinate and implement appropriate activities and other co-curricular programs
o Plan day and overnight excursions (i.e. CIS Abroad La Vida Local™ excursions)
o Serve as a point of contact for any participant requests for academic exceptions, complaints, appeals, etc.
o Assist in the writing and editing of program materials such as newsletters, handbooks, program details, pre-departure information
o Assist with the participant evaluation process
o Evaluate and address concerns for students with special needs
o Share simple personal recommendations with CIS Abroad program coordinators upon request, including:
>local points of interest, housing options, dining options, transportation options, and educational opportunities for customized programs
>program logistics
o Help coordinate customized programs and site visits upon request, based on availability
>Organize teaching space
>Provide logistical support to visiting US study abroad advisors and faculty

Time Commitment:

The Ireland Site Director is a part-time position (with more intensive, full-time commitments during the start of academic semesters, and periodically for short term customized programs), though the SD will be expected to be on call for emergencies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor’s Degree
o 3-4 years of professional work experience, preferably with Ireland/US university students in the field of International Education
o In-depth knowledge of local culture, history, business practices, languages and academic environment
o Strong knowledge of Ireland/US university system and the Ireland/US student experience
o Ability to empathize with US participants and to understand their cultural perspectives
o Solid organizational skills
o Strong leadership skills and a commitment to customer service
o Ability to work on a varied schedule
o Flexibility

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
o Ability to lift or maneuver up to 50 pounds
o Ability to continuously stand or walk
o Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently
