An Cosan Early Years Education and Care Centres - Fledglings Early Years Education and Care & Rainbow House Early Education Centre -Various Early Years Roles

At An Cosan our mission is to empower through education – we do that by providing people of all ages with pathways to learning, leadership and enterprise. An Cosán offers a variety of programmes in early years education and care, parenting, community, further and higher education. Our Virtual Community College also now brings our ethos beyond Jobstown to locations across the country.

Fledglings Early Years Education and Care is an early years organisation who provides early childhood education to children from 6 months to five years in various settings across Dublin and Rainbow House is the in-house early education and care centre in An Cosan situated in Jobstown, Tallaght. At present Fledglings have 6 services within the areas of Tallaght, Cabra and Whitehall. Both Fledglings and Rainbow House uses an evidenced-based curriculum approach in all our services, called HighScope. As an Early Years Educator you will be joining a network of professionals working together to deliver high quality early education all over Dublin.

We view the role of Early Years Educator as crucial to ensuring high quality education for young children. Supportive relationships are the cornerstone of our practice. Adults working in Fledglings and Rainbow House are expected to demonstrate sensitivity, warmth and positive regard for all children and their families. We work as a team with our colleagues, and in partnership with parents fostering relationships built on mutual respect and understanding.

Fledglings acknowledge the importance of continuing professional development. We provide regular opportunities for employees to reflect on their practice, offer ongoing training and encourage employees to engage in a wide variety of ongoing professional development.

As an Early Years Educator your responsibilities will include:

•To implement the curriculum, policies and procedures as documented in the Fledglings Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures folder (which will incorporate the relevant HSE Pre-School Regulations).

•To liaise with parents individually and to attend group meetings when requested in relation to the development of the children.

•To act as Key Worker for specific children in accordance with the procedures documented in the Fledglings Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures folder.

•To ensure full compliance with all record-keeping obligations (both paper and soft-copy) as documented in the Fledglings Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures folder.

•To carry personal responsibility for compliance with Health & Safety obligations (including food safety, fire safety and insurance requirements) as documented in the Fledglings Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures folder (which will incorporate the requirements of the relevant Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act).

•To carry personal responsibility for compliance with Child Protection obligations as documented in the Fledglings Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures folder (which will incorporate the relevant policies and procedures from OMCYA as documented in “Children First”)

•To minimise wastage and costs in the storage and disbursement of all consumables required for the provision of the childcare service.

•To escalate to the Manager any non-compliances relating to quality of childcare, Health & Safety, Child Protection or financial management with a view to achieving compliance with the standards documented in the Fledglings Early Years Education and Care policies and procedures folder.
