Greaghrahan National School is a vertical co-educational school under the patronage of Bishop Martin Hayes, Catholic Bishop of Kilmore. The Board of Management of Greaghrahan N.S. invites applications for the position of principal.
The present teaching staff comprises of 3 mainstream class teachers and 1 SET post.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion and diversity in education
• Excellent people management, and communication skills
• Proven leadership skills
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school based initiatives
• Knowledge and capacity to successfully lead and administer a school
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Ability to encourage and foster the involvement of parents and the wider community in the education of the children in the school
• Previous experience in policy development
Applicants must be fully registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Route 1 – Primary) and have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a recognised primary school.
A commitment to supporting the catholic ethos of the school is essential. Candidates must hold a Certificate to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school.
The roles and responsibilities of the post are determined by the four domains of leadership and management as specified in DES Circular 0044/2019

The appointment will be subject to Garda Vetting.
