Additional Information:
The Old Borough National School is a co-ed Church of Ireland school under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin and Glendalough. The school has a strong link with the Church of Ireland grouped parishes of Swords, Clonmethan and Kilsallaghan with Donabate and Lusk and is a school which is child-centred and inclusive, with 102 pupils on roll.

There are four mainstream classes and one, full-time special education post. There are five teachers, one full-time SNA, one part-time EAL teacher, a classroom assistant, a school secretary and a part-time caretaker.

This position is a permanent teaching principal post.
Applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (Route 1 - Primary), be fully garda vetted and have a minimum of 5 years recognised teaching experience, 2 of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.

The roles and responsibilities of the post of Principal Teacher are determined by the four domains of Leadership and Management as set out in chapter 4 of Circular 0044/2019.

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
• An understanding and a commitment to the school’s Anglican ethos and an ability to support and promote school/parish links.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a range of teaching experience.
• Understanding and knowledge of Special Education Needs, inclusion and diversity in education.
• Excellent people management and communication skills and an ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents and the wider community.
• Proven leadership skills and a commitment to school self evaluation
• A commitment to and evidence of, relevant continuing professional development
