Scoil Phádraig is an all-boys Catholic school in the diocese of Kildare & Leighlin. Bishop Denis Nulty is its Patron. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a commitment to continue to lead and strengthen the Catholic ethos of the school. Applicants must be fully registered with the Teaching Council and have a recognised qualification to teach religion in a Catholic School.

The current pupil population of Scoil Phádraig is 575 students. There are 23 mainstream classrooms as well as 3 ASD classes.
Scoil Phádraig has a professional and highly motivated staff, which, from September 2024 includes: an Admin DP, 39 teachers, 12 Special Needs Assistants, 2 secretaries, 2 cleaners and a caretaker.
Our pupils are actively engaged in their learning, inclusive of others and have a warmth towards their peers and staff. Scoil Phádraig is a school committed to the nurturing of positive relationships and the use of Restorative Practices. The atmosphere of the school is open and welcoming. The school strives to be a child-centred, happy and safe environment for all its pupils, giving them the opportunity and encouragement to learn and develop to the best of their individual strengths and abilities. In addition to high academic expectations pupils are provided with many opportunities to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
The school building is a modern, well maintained building, complete with fantastic play and sporting facilities, and a modern digital learning infrastructure.

The roles and responsibilities of the post are determined by the four domains of leadership and management as set out in Circular 0044/ 2019.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning.
2. Managing the Organisation.
3. Leading School Development.
4. Developing Leadership Capacity.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and a broad range of teaching experience
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and of inclusion and diversity in education
• Excellent communication and people management skills
• Proven leadership skills
• A commitment to and evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school based initiatives
• The capacity to successfully lead and administer a school
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload
• Previous experience in policy development

The appointment will also be subject to confirmation of qualifications, Garda vetting requirements (DES Circular 31/2016) and Occupational Health Screening.
