Panel of Applicants:
An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
St Killian's is a Special School which caters for the needs of pupils with a variety of diagnosed disabilities: SLD, SSLD, ASD, and DCD , pupils may also have a diagnosis of Multiple Disabilities.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of the Special School setting preferably with pupils with a range of diagnosed disabilities, in particular experience with pupils with ASD. The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of ASD and the methodologies used in a school setting such as TEACCH, ABA, Social Stories. Experience of using LAMH/PECS in a class context would be desirable. The role would include supporting the care needs of pupils who range in age from 5-13 with a range of disabilities within the class setting. Experience and qualifications of the management of behaviours that challenge and experience of MAPA/CPI or similar would be an advantage. Familiarity with behaviour plans/CPI action plans and de-escalation strategies is essential.
The successful candidate will have have good inter-personal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of the class team, with other professionals and carry out interventions as delegated by relevant professionals.
The successful candidate would have completed an appropriate SNA course and have completed/ be undertaking relevant professional development courses related to the role.
Duties, qualifications and salary as outlined by the Department of Education's Website. Further duties will be assigned by the class teacher/Principal. Applicants who are deemed to be members of the SNA Supplementary Panel with supplementary panel rights, must furnish a certified copy of completed Panel Form PF1 with their application.
There are 3 permanent posts and 1 career-break advertised.
Post appointments will be subject to Patron's approval, Garda Vetting and Occupational Health Approval.
