An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Stewarts School caters for students with moderate, severe and profound intellectual disability aged 4-18 years. In addition, many students have additional needs such as autism, ADHD, physical disability and complex medical conditions. The successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The school has 22 class teachers, 50 SNAs, 2 nurses and the support of a clinic team and is due to move to its new school building in 2019.

This position is initially for young students with autism. Experience of PECS, Lámh, positive behaviour strategies and crisis intervention/management is an advantage. However, training will be provided in these areas and TEACCH/ABA approaches. The school will be participating in Droichead to enable NQTs complete their probation.
