The Board of Management of St. Mary's National School, Pullough, invites applications for the position of Principal Teacher. St. Mary's NS is a co-educational Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois, Paul Connell.

St. Mary's NS is a DEIS Rural school with a strong sense of community and a commitment to providing a happy, inclusive and child-centred learning environment. The school has experienced significant development in recent years, including the establishment of a special class for children with Autism, and is committed to fostering high-quality teaching and learning for all pupils.

The roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of leadership and management as specified in Circular 0044/2019:

1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity

The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:

* Proven leadership skills, including policy development, implementation and review.
* Experience of teaching in a DEIS setting and a strong understanding of DEIS planning and initiatives.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and people management skills.
* Experience across a range of class levels and educational settings.
* A strong commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing.
* Experience of Special Educational Needs provision and supporting pupils with additional needs.
* Knowledge and experience of managing and developing special class provision is desirable.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, the Board of Management and the wider school community.
* Ability to promote a positive school culture and a culture of continuous improvement.
* Understanding of and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic primary school.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective leadership practice.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of the role of Principal Teacher in a contemporary Irish primary school.

To be eligible for appointment, candidates must:

* Be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 (Primary).
* Have a recognised Certificate to Teach Religious Education.

The appointment will be subject to current Teaching Council registration, satisfactory references, Garda Vetting, Occupational Health Screening and Patron approval.
