An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Stewarts School caters for students with moderate, severe and profound intellectual disability aged 5 -18 years. In addition, many students have autism. The successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The primary school curriculum is followed by the younger students and the post-primary aged students engage in the Junior Cycle Level 1 Programme. Knowledge and experience of PECS, Lámh, positive behaviour strategies and crisis intervention is an advantage. However, training and CPD will be provided as needed.

The school participates in the Droichead Programme. As the school offers second level programmes all applicants registered with the Teaching Council are eligible for consideration.
