An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
The Robertson NS is a mainstream school with three Class Teachers and a Special Education Teacher.
This SNA post is .83 of a post (Infant Day).
This appointment requires somebody who demonstrates flexibility, is a team player, has a calm disposition and shows initiative in their work. The candidate should be familiar with duties as set out in DES circular 0030/2014.
The candidate must have achieved the minimum qualifications as per DES Circular 44/2014
The following requirements are advantageous to the post:
-evidence of other relevant qualifications in the area of special needs education
-significant experience working with children on the ASD spectrum.
-demonstrate a solid understanding of ASD and methodologies used such as TEACCH, ABA, PECS, LÁMH, Braincalm, Social Stories, Schedules
-evidence of relevant CPD
-confident in dealing with emotional/behavioural needs
-experience of working with children with special needs in a mainstream class setting
-experience in using SEN IT equipment/ assisting in implementing positive behaviour programs
-experience of managing intimate care needs
