An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

St. Oliver’s Special School caters for children with moderate and severe to profound intellectual disabilities; including autism. Experience teaching in a special school will be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate should demonstrate experience and competency in augmentative communication and assisted teaching technologies for pupils with intellectual disabilities, demonstrate the ability to lead a class team, have experience in coordinating Individual Education Plans, working from behavioural support plans and managing behaviours that challenge.
Training in the following is hugely beneficial: PECS, Lámh, TEACCH, MAPA, FEDS and Manual Handling.

St. Oliver’s Special School is currently advertising three teaching posts:
- two substitute maternity leave contracts
- one fixed term job share contract
