An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Spa N.S. seeks an enthusiastic and experienced special needs assistant.
Experience assisting children with Down’s syndrome, A.D.H.D. and A.S.D. in a primary school
setting desirable.
Experience and training in communication needs (Lámh), feeding care, toileting care, medical
knowledge and equipment preferable.
Practical experience with the management of challenging behaviour and promotion of positive
behaviour strategies preferable.
Candidates must have a proven record of being highly motivated, flexible analytical and
personable.
Candidates must be able to work well within a team, display a strong work ethic and
demonstrate a willingness to avail of further training.
This position will involve working closely with the class teacher and other staff in support of
children with special needs. It may require working with one or more children with special needs
during the school day.
The successful candidate will be expected to respect the confidentiality of the students at all
times.
The successful candidate will be subject to current vetting requirements and Occupational
Health Screening
