The Board of Management wishes to invite expressions of interest in a permanent vacancy, with initial duties in an ASD Stream Class within St Killian’s Special School from teachers listed on the Supplementary Panel for the Diocese of Cork and Ross. An expression of interest should be forwarded to the Chairperson of the Board of Management at the following address st_killians@yahoo.ie by the 21st day of June, 2019, being 5 calendar days from the date of this advertisement.

This teaching role includes teaching in a special ASD Stream Class in St Killian’s for pupils with ASD, SLD/SSLD and Complex Needs. The successful candidate will have experience with pupils with ASD/SSLD and Complex Needs. Experience and an understanding of behaviour management strategies is essential, a relevant qualification/professional development in this area would be desirable. Ability to differentiate the teaching and learning to meet the needs of all the pupils. A sound knowledge of positive behaviour reinforcement, choice boards and negotiated schedules is required. Experience and or professional development in Teacch/ PECs/Lamh or other communication strategies would be an advantage. Ability to work effectively with the class team and support staff is essential. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, drawing up of suitable IEPs is required.
