An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

ABACAS Special School, Kilnamanagh is seeking to appoint a Bus Escort to commence September 2018. The escort will accompany a pupil or pupils on specialised bus transport from their homes to and from the school. The bus escort must be available in the mornings from approximately 8.00am to 9. 30am (school starts at 9.20) and from 2.00 pm to 4.00pm (school finishes 3pm) throughout the school calendar year. Escorts must have their own transport to and from drop-off point (Clonskeagh area).

The person must have a caring disposition. The escort will be responsible for the safety of the pupils on board the bus and will be required to assist them getting on and off the bus and securing appropriate seat-belts and harness straps.

Experience in working with children with intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders is desirable. Candidates need to be able to deal with parents and school staff in a professional way- may need to communicate regarding pick ups/drop offs, illnesses, traffic delays etc.

Appointment is subject to garda vetting and appropriate character references.

Hourly rate of pay will be €13.60 per hour including 8% holiday pay; Bus Escorts are not paid during school holidays. Wages are paid on a monthly basis
