An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

This teaching role would include the setting up of a small class for 1-3 primary pupils with ASD and behaviours that Challenge. The successful candidate will have experience with pupils with ASD/Challenging Behaviour. Experience and an understanding of CPI/MAPA or team teach is essential, a relevant qualification/professional development in this area would be desirable. Ability to teach the Primary Curriculum is essential, as is the ability to differentiate the teaching and learning to meet the needs of all the pupils. A sound knowledge of positive behaviour reinforcement, choice boards and negotiated schedules is required. Drawing up and review of comprehensive individual pupil support plans is essential. Ability to work effectively with the class team and support staff is essential. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, drawing up of suitable IEPs is required.
