Circular 0019/2011 - Clarification Regarding Appointment of Teachers
Any permanent teaching post that is now vacant may be filled in a permanent capacity. It must first be offered to anyone on a panel if there is still one in operation in your area. If the panel is clear then it can be advertised as normally on EducationPosts.ie. There is one proviso – the teacher must actually be in situ by the first working day in November, which this year is Monday the 7th
Any teaching post that becomes vacant after the 1st November can only be filled in a temporary capacity. This means that the DES will not sanction any post even if the process is completed prior to the 1st November – i.e. anyone retiring at Christmas or around that time can only be replaced in a temporary capacity.
