Circular 0007/2012 - Clarification Regarding Appointment of Teachers
Schools are reminded of the requirements in Circular 0007/12 to ensure that all permanent and fixed-term vacancies are notified to their relevant panel operator so as to ensure the effective operation of the teacher redeployment process. Schools that have vacancies that are filled from the special national panel and schools that do not have access to a panel are required to notify their vacancies to the Department in accordance with the arrangements set out in Circular 0007/12.
The existing arrangements continue to remain in place whereby schools fill vacancies only from the panels of surplus permanent teachers. It is not possible to permit any schools to fill any permanent or fixed-term posts in any other manner until the surplus permanent teachers are redeployed.
Given that the teacher allocation process for the 2012/13 school year is largely completed for many primary schools it should be possible to have most of these surplus permanent teachers redeployed by Friday 18 May 2012. The onus is now on schools to ensure this is achieved within this timeframe. Further details on the operation of the teacher redeployment process are outlined in Section 2 of Department Staffing Circular 0007/12.
